Since its creation, the French-American Bar Association (FABA) has placed great importance on informal gatherings bringing together legal professionals who share an interest in Franco-American legal culture. These networking events, known as “FABApéros,” are a core component of the association’s identity and activities. They provide a friendly and relaxed setting for professional interaction, complementing the conferences and training sessions organized by FABA.
Following an interruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic, FABA revived this flagship format with a FABApéro held on April 4, 2023, in Paris. This event marked an important milestone in the resumption of in-person networking activities and in strengthening ties within the Franco-American legal community.
The FABApéro took place from 7:00 p.m. at the O’Sullivans Franklin D. Roosevelt pub, located on Avenue Franklin D. Roosevelt in Paris’s 8th arrondissement. The venue offered a welcoming and informal atmosphere, well suited to open discussion and the creation of new professional connections. The event was free of charge and open to all, including attorneys, in-house counsel and legal professionals, whether or not they were members of FABA, as well as individuals with an interest in Franco-American legal matters.
Approximately twenty to thirty participants attended this post-pandemic edition, a strong turnout for a relaunch and a clear sign of renewed interest in the afterwork format. Attendees were welcomed with a first drink and appetizers offered by FABA, contributing to a relaxed and friendly environment.
Beyond its social dimension, the purpose of this FABApéro was to enable participants to meet new colleagues, reconnect with long-standing contacts, and engage with clients, partners and friends of the association. Conversations covered both professional topics and more informal exchanges, reflecting the open and inclusive spirit that has characterized FABA since its creation.
The revival of the FABApéro format is fully in line with FABA’s mission to foster relationships between French and U.S. legal professionals and to animate a dynamic transatlantic network. The April 4, 2023 event thus marked the return of an essential element of the association’s life, one that is intended to continue and grow in the years ahead.
