The 2026 Paris Fashion Law Conference, held on October 13 at the prestigious Art Deco Grand Salon of La Fondation des États-Unis in Paris, was a resounding success, bringing together nearly 100 participants from across the legal, fashion, business, and intellectual property communities. Co-organized by the Intellectual Property Section of the Federal Bar Association, the French American Bar Association (FABA), Academia Cerebra, and La Fondation des États-Unis, the conference provided an outstanding forum for discussing some of the most pressing legal issues facing the global fashion industry.
Throughout the afternoon, experts from a variety of jurisdictions and professional backgrounds shared their insights on topics that are increasingly important to fashion brands and industry stakeholders. The participation of speakers from France, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other jurisdictions contributed to a truly international dialogue and offered attendees a wide range of legal and business perspectives.
The conference began with a panel focused on global fashion and luxury brand protection. Panelists discussed innovative legal strategies used to combat counterfeiting, enforce intellectual property rights, and safeguard brand reputation across international markets. Among the speakers was Anna Klein, Vice President of the French American Bar Association, who shared her expertise on intellectual property protection and the cross-border challenges facing fashion companies in today’s global economy.
The second panel addressed trade, sustainability, and transparency in the fashion industry. Speakers explored the growing impact of environmental regulations, supply chain transparency requirements, and consumer expectations on the fashion sector. The discussion highlighted the legal challenges associated with implementing responsible business practices while maintaining competitiveness in an increasingly complex marketplace.
The third panel focused on brands, private equity, and public markets. Panelists examined the legal and strategic issues that arise during growth transactions, acquisitions, and initial public offerings, with particular attention to preserving brand identity, consumer trust, and long-term value creation.
Special recognition is due to Olivera Medenica, the principal organizer of the conference. Through her vision, dedication, and tireless efforts, the event was flawlessly executed and widely appreciated by participants. In addition to leading the organization of the conference, Olivera also skillfully moderated two panel discussions, helping foster dynamic and engaging conversations throughout the afternoon.
FABA also extends its sincere appreciation to its partners and co-organizers whose support was instrumental to the success of the conference: the Intellectual Property Section of the Federal Bar Association, Academia Cerebra, and La Fondation des États-Unis. We are especially grateful to La Fondation des États-Unis for hosting the event in such a historic and inspiring venue that provided the perfect setting for an international gathering of fashion law professionals.
One of the defining features of this year’s conference was the exceptional quality of the discussions and the active participation of attendees. Following the panels, attendees gathered for the cocktail reception, where discussions continued in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Speakers, participants, and organizers had the opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and develop new professional relationships. The many conversations that continued long after the formal program ended reflected the success of the conference in fostering both substantive dialogue and meaningful networking opportunities.
The French American Bar Association was particularly pleased to witness the strong interest generated among attendees regarding the organization’s activities. Several participants expressed their intention to join FABA or attend future events, further demonstrating the value of FABA’s mission to strengthen legal and professional ties between France and the United States.
Given the quality of the discussions, the diversity of viewpoints represented, and the strong attendance throughout the day, the 2026 Paris Fashion Law Conference can be considered a tremendous success. FABA is proud to have contributed to this outstanding event and looks forward to continuing these important conversations through future programs and initiatives.
